IT Jobs Initiative Launched To Attract Tech Skills To Cork Region
MakeItinCork.com to attract IT talent to Cork to fill roles in tech sector
While Cork has been very successful in attracting some of the world's leading technology companies, the demand for skilled professionals with multi-lingual and IT skills continues to increase. With over 10,000 people already employed in over 40 overseas ICT/Technolgy companies in the City and county, Cork has a strong IT cluster and Make IT in Cork will help to attract additional skills to Cork to support the continued growth of the participating companies.

"In order to ensure that the tech cluster in the region continues to prosper, Make IT in Cork has been developed to work together with industry partners to promote career opportunities here and to promote the quality of life in the region," explained Siobhan Hasner, marketing manager for Make IT in Cork.

"This initiative aims to build a pipeline of IT and multilingual professionals in the short term, while longer term objectives like providing transitional training to address the skills gap can be mobilised", she added.

Organisations such as Apple, EMC, VMWare, McAfee, Quest Software, Big Fish, TrendMicro, Voxpro and Pilz are all based in Cork and require a steady pipeline of professionals with IT and multilingual skills. The impact of filling these roles in Cork has a direct impact on the regional economy, as well as the Irish economy. It is estimated that every job created in a technology company creates an additional 3 jobs in the services sector.

Make IT in Cork provides job opportunities and listings at www.makeItinCork.com, as well as supporting infomation about relocating to Cork. A social media compaign on Facebook and Twitter to promote the region also forms part of the initiative.

Make IT in Cork is run by Cork-based software and social media company, AssemblyPoint Ltd, and has the support of Cork Chamber and other business support organisations in the region.
