TESLA Spin-Ins Programme.
An Integrated, Practical, Hands-on Programme to
Identify, Evaluate and Plan a New Business Opportunity
Workshop Objective
The objective of the Programme is to support employees of companies in identifying, investigating, selecting, planning and proposing novel, potentially disruptive, commercial opportunities for their company through a series of eight day-long seminars.
During each seminar, employees of companies, who participate in the workshop, will investigate the utility of a specific commercial opportunity; develop a business plan to justify its development; and plan the exploitation of the opportunity. Where no specific commercial opportunity exists, participants will explore and identify a potential opportunity for commercial exploitation.
Workshop Structure
The seminars are designed to mentor participants in the process of new business development.
A key feature of the seminars will be the high degree of individual mentoring afforded to each participant by the instructor; and participants will be required to complete tasks for each seminar.
Each seminar will include a “review of each participant’s deliverables from the previous session”; an “introduction to the next appropriate development stage”, including appropriate deliverables; and “agreement with each participant on their deliverables for the next seminar”.
To protect companies’ intellectual property and strategic opportunities, the afternoon of each seminar day will be reserved for mentoring of individual participants.
Workshop Outcome
At the end of the workshop seminars, participants will have evaluated specific opportunities that they are proposing be commercially exploited by their company. They will have prepared an early stage business plan to justify the development, or show why it should not be exploited; and a draft new product/service development plan.
Each participant will create a “power presentation” to inform their senior managers of the opportunity and explain why it should be commercially exploited.
Participant Benefits
There is a strong correlation between employee satisfaction and corporate success. Although the objective is to identify and justify the development of commercial opportunities, participants will benefit significantly; and, as a result, their companies will also benefit.
Workshop Timetable
The table below shows the workshop seminar plan, including the topics covered in each seminar and the deliverables for each.
The seminars will commence at 10.00am. After lunch, from 2pm to 5pm, the participants will be mentored individually by the instructor.
