Here at Snap-on Diagnostics Cork we are looking for a Localization Engineer to be part of a team of experienced and experts in the field of Software, Help, Manuals, On-Line, Marcom deliverables to non-English markets


Team Purpose:

The Snap-on Localization Business Unit is truly a creative work environment, with a challenging & ever changing set of problems to be solved. We are passionate about making our non-English product as good as the English product.

Role Purpose: 

The role calls for a self-driven individual, with strong collaboration skills and experience in world readiness, localization and process engineering, they will play a role in a large-scale operation to release high-quality content deliverables. You will have many opportunities to use and grow your skills, allowing you to influence our production execution & the localization toolset.

KEY TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Localizable Content Extraction and Insertion via existing and newly developed Tools and Processes
  • Localization Kit compilation and validation via existing and newly developed Tools and Processes
  • Liaise with Localization providers on a Technical level
  • Localization Tools and Process Test Case and Test Plan creation and update
  • Participate in Localization issue identification prioritization and resolution of localization issues.
  • Attend and contribute at bug review meetings
  • Participate and Contribute in Rapid Continuous Improvement (RCI) activities
  • Implement linguistic quality initiatives for Snap-on’s internationalized products
  • Deliver projects in a timely and efficient manner to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Awareness of work practices SEQ, Quality and E, H & S system requirements, department’s objectives and subsequent changes.
  • The employee will observe confidentiality regarding Snap-on’s products and policies and refrain from any disclosure, which may be prejudicial to copyrights or other Intellectual properties.
  • Any other duties requested by Manager

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Office based (Cork).

 
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required:

  • Degree Educated in IT discipline(s).
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Quality focused and process oriented.
  • Diligent and flexible individual – willing to learn and grow in the position.
  • Understanding of localization standards tools and processes.
  • Language Construct / Multi-lingual skills are essential.

Desirable:

  • DTP experience.
  • Scripting/Programming experience.
  • Windows XP, Windows 7, Apple MAC OS X / UNIX experience.
  • Appreciation of / Interest in Automotive Technology.
  • Second Language.
