Renaissance, Ireland’s leading data security distributor, is delighted to announce the return of the Cyber Expo Ireland Cork Event for 2019 on the 30th April. Bringing together key global leaders in the cyber solutions space, this ½ day session (8am-1pm) will concentrate on product education, awareness, demos and practical advice offered to attendees from these market-leading security solution providers.
What was the inspiration to start it?
Cyber-crime is now headlining the risks for businesses in Ireland. According to the Irish Economic crime survey carried out by PWC in 2018, 49% of companies have suffered an economic crime or fraud since 2016 and this increasing trend means that economic crime in Ireland is happening faster than anywhere else in the world. Additionally it cannot be considered as just an IT problem; often the attacks are targeted at the unsuspecting employee, with phishing being a prominent technique for cyberattacks (66%), followed by malware (56%) across all company departments. It is therefore critical that all business leaders are involved in the education and awareness of their staff to mitigate the risk to their business at all levels.
Michael Conway, Director of Renaissance Ireland and thought leader behind Cyber Expo Ireland feels that “what is most productive is being given the tools to respond before true devastating damage can be inflicted. With the stakes rising and the cost of a breach remaining evermore debilitating, governments and organisations of ALL sizes are having to rethink their cyber strategy. We are all being forced to up our game across the entire threat lifecycle - prevention, detection, response.”
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
For Business Users: Renaissance hope that the fact that this event is an Expo, rather than a conference, will encourage people to see this as something different. There are a lot of conferences/seminars ongoing on cybersecurity and GDPR related topics, but there is no event solely demonstrating the solutions on the market to solve these problems. The internet is great for researching security products and solutions but nothing beats having a real conversation with real people showing the practicalities of using this technology.
For Irish Resellers: This event will allow discussions with global security vendors; informing, educating and building relationships that will undoubtedly deliver business revenues in the coming months/years.
