The “Fit 4 Work Program” is free to students and is being delivered by a current member of it@cork, Lorraine Shine from Allen Recruitment (IT recruitment consultancy).  Lorraine, who is a qualified Career Coach explained the background to the program “ Recent feedback received from employers and college lecturers, is that students seem to perform well in technical interviews but need to be better prepared for soft skill interview questions and to be more effective in getting their communication skills across to prospective employers. The interview coaching program will focus specifically on this area and students will be given the opportunity to carry out a practice interview where they will be given specific feedback on their interview performance and hopefully go away with plenty of learning points.”

One hour interview coaching sessions are available to students every Wednesday morning at CIT, UCC and Cork College of Commerce. This is a free service and the only pre-requisite for students is that they sign up for membership of it@cork, European Cluster (which is also free to students). Students who are not currently members and have an interest in the IT sector are encouraged to join and avail of both our “Fit 4 Work Program” and our numerous it@cork networking events where you might just meet your future employer.
